Abstract In this thesis, we present a theorem that illustrates a problem about independent hypothesis-extension algorithms from Bayes’ Theorem. Theorem describes how independent inference is handled by Bayes-theoretical inference of independence. We show that, if the model contains as many independent hypotheses as some or any of the variables in the data, the algorithm becomes undirected: each dependent variable predicts the dependent variable in the first place, and each independent variable predicts the independent variable in the second place. This observation, together with the linear independence of dependent and independent variables, provides the conditions under which the independence condition is satisfied. We give an alternate approach to this problem, although this methodology is non-trivial, to derive full derivation information. Thus, this article aims at developing a generalized version of this theorem. This was the focus of two key papers in the book of Jahn, Reuter, and Mauss. Both papers address in more detail the extension of Bayes’ theorem to random variables, and a bit of a theory paper from Duxmier, Rösler, and von Troto. The proofs are complete, but they differ significantly from the proof based on a general-purpose algorithm (e.g., Rösler’s proof) that may have limitations for constructing independent tests or the like. We provide a nice explanation for a result written in Theorem \[theo1\], where an application to the problem of independent hypothesis-extension calls for the use of a certain generalized Bayes’ theorem see page Corollary \[coro5\] for more details). We then establish some new derivation information for independent hypothesis-extension by first improving the method described in the rest of this paper, while in the last section we provide a large-scale connection to experiment and to the Bayes’ proof of independence for random variables in such sampling scenarios.
